Tucson is a great place to visit. Whether you love the outdoors, culture or the arts there is something here for everyone. If you are planning a trip to Tucson you need to work out a schedule well in advance or you might be overwhelmed with the number of attractions to see once you arrive. One great attraction in the city is the Old Tucson Studios. Keep reading this article and learn why you should add the studios to your list of attractions to see.

The Old Tucson Studios were originally created to film the movie Arizona back in 1939. Since that time it has played host to well over 70 different western movies. Some other movies filmed here include Rio Lobo with John Wayne, The Outlaw Josey Wales with Clint Eastwood and Tombstone. This makes it a must see for any movie buff visiting the city. There is more to do there than just visit the sets though. Today the Old Tucson Studios is also a small theme park of sorts. When you visit you will be treated to staged gun fights, stunt man performances and even musical performances. You can also go on train rides, stagecoach rides and horse rides. There is even a full restaurant at the studios for when you get hungry. So as you can see there is quite a bit to do at the studios. It is a great family friendly event that you should add to your schedule for when you visit Arizona.

If you would like to visit the Old Tucson Studios while in Arizona you can find it at 201 S. Kinney Road. The studios are open daily from 10AM to 6PM and admission is reasonable at $15 for adults and about $9 for kids. Before visiting you should call ahead for current hours, current admission prices and to see if any movies are currently being shot. The phone number is 520-883-0100.

Hondo (Full Screen)

Hondo (Full Screen)

Although scarcely seen in its original 3-D, and entirely out of sight for a decade and a half after its producer-star died, Hondo has maintained a high rep among John Wayne fans–and it wasn’t even directed by Howard Hawks or John Ford. McLintock (1963) (Sp)

$4.92

John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara were born to star in “The Taming of the Shrew,” and this is the closest they ever got. Wayne plays a cattle baron whose estranged wife (O’Hara) wants a divorce. The film is basically one long, funny brawl between them, ending with a mud pit melee and Wayne publicly spanking O’Hara, which doesn’t look quite so politically correct anymore. This is no great shakes–direc…

O Brother, Where Art Thou?

$6.06

Only Joel and Ethan Coen, the fraternal director and producer team behind art-house hits such as The Big Lebowski and Fargo and masters of quirky and ultra-stylish genre subversion, would dare nick the plot line of Homer’s Odyssey for a comic picaresque saga about three cons on the run in 1930s Mississippi. Our wandering hero in this case is one Ulysses Everett McGill, a slick-tongued wise guy…
