I’m on a budget, and I need to get from John Wayne Airport in Orange County to my hostel in Los Angeles?

It’s really too bad you aren’t flying into LAX. They have a $5 flyaway bus that goes directly to Union Station. From there, you could take the Red Line Subway to Hollywood & Highland, then walk to your hostel.
The best way from John Wayne is to get to to the Tustin Metrolink Station, and take a Metrolink train to LA’s Union Station. Then you can take the Red Line to Hollywood & Highland. You’ll need to visit www.octa.net, www.metrolinktrains.com, and maybe even amtrak.com. The best way is to catch the 472 bus to the Tustin station, but that only runs in the mid-afternoon local time. Once you get to the hostel, your worries are over. You’re in the heart of Hollywood, and they have plenty of activities at the hostel. The people at the desk will help you out. Once you get past the security guard, you’re golden.
