All around us there are people who are winning and people who are losing. When you drive down the street chances are that only 5% of the people you pass along the way are actually winning in the game of life, the other 95% are merely surviving, and some of them are not even doing that. I don’t believe there are winners and losers; I believe that there are people who are winning and people that are losing. Everybody on this planet has the capacity to win at the game of life, whatever their own personal definition of winning is.

Nobody is born losing, each one of us the moment we were born started down the path of being a winner, because we made it from single cell critter to human being, and that is a big deal. Through our formative years though society tends to beat the winner out of us, we are taught that it’s better to “go with the flow” or “stick to the status quo” and mostly we are taught “don’t rock the boat.”

It’s difficult then to change from being a “boat drifter” to being a “boat rocker.” And when you really think about it all the great personalities through history were “boat rockers” and not a one of them is remembered because they “went with the flow.” George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and many of the members of the first Continental Congress were “boat rockers.” Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King Jr. refused to “go with the flow” and subsequently changed the entire landscape of the history of the United States. When looking at history it becomes evident that if just one person had made on different decision all of history would be affected. John Adams was offered a position in King George’s regime but instead chose to attend the first Continental Congress and essentially became the voice for secession and independence, had he chosen the royal offer there would have been no continental army formed with George Washington at its head, because John Adams had the courage and wherewithal to put forth that as an option. How different would the history of the United States be if John Adams had made one different choice?

But again, it’s not the huge decisions that end up making the difference, all john Adams did was make a career choice, but that choice ultimately effected millions of people. And it’s choices like that that stem from smaller choices made on a daily basis. Here are a few easy little things you can do each day to move from being a person who is losing to a person who is winning!

1- Read at least 10 minutes in Good Positive Literature Daily

This is paramount, look online and find a list of the great books and read them, if you google “best personal development books” you will find at your fingertips a lifetime’s worth of books to study. My personal favorites are Think and Grow Rich! By Napoleon Hill, As A Man Thinketh by James Allen, The Power Of Intention by Wayne Dyer and The greatest Salesman In The World by Og Mandino

2- Listen to at least 15 minutes of Enriching Audio Programs Daily

I am a musician and I love to listen to music, but for me this has been a huge cornerstone to keeping my mind in a winning mindset, so for me Monday through Friday if I am in my car I am listening to an audio program, when I work out I am listening to an audio program. On the weekends I listen to music. There are literally thousands of great audio programs out there By Brian Tracy, Jim Rohn, Wayne Dyer, Bob Proctor, Anthony Robbins, and Denis Waitley to name a few. Take some time and listen to what the great teachers of personal development in our time have to share.

3- Do physical exercise for at least 20 minutes 3-4 times a week. Go for a walk, go for a run, do some yoga, or pilates, do anything just make sure you do something! We are leading increasingly sedentary lives, we need to do something to keep our bodies healthy and strong, and while we’re on the topic of health, maybe cut back on the cheeseburgers and fries.

These 3 simple ideas can mold and change your life for the better, if you don’t believe me give it a try for 30 days, essentially all I’m asking is that you devote 50 minutes each day to development of your mindset and your physical health, most people spend three times that amount of time daily just watching television, give up TV for a month and watch your life and attitudes change, and you’ll never go back, I promise.

Again success is a matter of doing the little things on a consistent basis, keep in mind these things and you can unlock the winning potential inside of you.
