Grandpa grew up with Jan and Dean and Bill Haley and the Comets and has many great memories of drive-ins and diners. He loves watching old shows on the retro TV channels and tells you all the stories of growing up in the mid-west when things were simpler. Technology was not as advanced as today but was a great time to live.
Grandpa relishes those times and has often talked of setting a special place that reminds him of this era but has never followed through. What better gift than to find something that will get him started on his 1955 era theme room where he can display his collectibles with pride.

1. Old Movie DVD Box Sets – A collection of DVD’s from that era will take him back to his youth. Even though he watches old re-runs, nothing goes better than a box set of the classics with the likes of Marlon Brando, James Dean and John Wayne. If he was into comedies, that time had some great shows that we know today. I Love Lucy, Jackie Gleason or The 3 Stooges were just a few of the typical shows he watched when he was young.
2. A CD Jukebox that allows him to play all of his rock and roll music is number 2 on the list of gifts that would go great in his 1950’s theme room. These CD players can take his entire collection and play any song in any order he chooses. When he is feeling nostalgic, this will give him something to spur some old memories and good times with the music of Elvis, Chubby Checker and even the Beach Boys playing in the background.
3. He has the movies, the music and now he needs some decorations that will complete the picture. Items to hang on his wall can be as simple as an old soda bottle poster, a Vintage Clock or NEON signs reminiscent of an old ice cream parlor he went to as a young boy. Rustic old signs and posters were big back then and can bring the entire room to life.
Grandpa would love to have anything that reminds him of good times and may even pull out some of his own memorabilia to put in his nifty fifties theme room.
Choose something this year for your husband that he will actually use. Whether you select a Flat screen TV or an old Jukebox to decorate his themed room, your gift will be much more appreciated.
