What is the name of the movie starring John Wayne and Dan Duryea where Wayne played a crippled naval officer?
John Wayne played an early US Navy pilot and Dan Duryea played a CPO and was Wayne’s sidekick.
Wayne lost the use of both legs as the result of a crash and Dan Duryea used some ‘tough love’ therapy to help John Wayne walk again.
The movie followed the early days of US Naval carrier aviation through World War II and has good therapeutic value in the story line.
I got a couple of freinds undergoing physical therapy and I’d like to obtain a video.
But I can’t recall the name of the movie.
It’s in black&white.
It is Wings of an Eagle and while Dan Duryea may be in it somewhere-it is Dan Dailey who portrays his friend/sidekick. It was made by John Ford in 1957 and also stars Maureen O’Hara.
