John Wayne and why?
I really like John Wayne movies. However If he tried to make it big now, he would probably be laughed out of the buisness. But even then I really enjoy watching his movies. Black and white, or color, old or new they are all great. His movies are also some of the biggest sellers on video. Am I just messed up, or was he really a great actor? Remeber that he did win an Oscar.
John Wayne was a great actor, and for the time, he was a hero. He changed movies forever with his acting. Unfortunately, our society has altered the idea of “hero” in today’s movies. We have to overanalyze every movie, and we kill it by doing that. If John Wayne was an actor today, he would be earmarked into that same category of movie and would probably only have moderate success, but not because of his acting, because of our society differences today. (plus, brokeback mountain ruined the image of cowboys!!)
