… of apple pie (okay and a scoop of ice creame), and go enjoy the fireworks with friends and family; what do you like to do on the 4th of July?
P.S. And NO I’m NEITHER a Republican NOR a flag waving religious fanatic (yes I know, not everyone’s perfect, LOL) – “W”ould you mind if I just LOVE my country?
For Canada Day AND Independence Day, I visited a cemetery in upstate New York (close enough to the border to honour both countries on these two auspicious occasions). I was particularly mindful of those with tributes of American flags, and mindful that the person there devoted some or all of his life to his country’s call for aid. In cemeteries lies our history – parents, husbands, wives, children – those who comprise the fabric of our North American tapestry.
And of course, there is magic in sprouting intellectual wings to read works by the likes of Thomas Jefferson; to stand on shoulders, our a gateways to the illuminations of visionaries.
